Fun Father's Day Weekend

This weekend was the first weekend in forever that we haven't had to worry about cleaning our house or leaving for a showing. It was fabulous!! On Saturday we headed up to Geist Reservoir to go out on Aunt Karen and Uncle Mike's pontune boat. We stayed out on the water for about 6 hours. Cameron had a blast!!! He got to fish, swim, feed the ducks and drive the boat. He even went a little outside of his comfort zone and learned how to do a pretty decent cannonball off the front of the boat. He and Daddy spent quite a bit of the afternoon competing to see who could come up with the biggest splash. I'll let you guess who won that one. We all had such a fun relaxing day. We did learn one very important lesson on the day. If you use spray on sunscreen, make sure you rub it in very well. Stuart and I both have some very interesting sunburn patterns due to our lack of knowledge in this area. Cameron, of course, is fine because he tans so easily. I would love to have pics to show you but we were bad parents this weekend and couldn't locate the camera (oh, the joys of constantly cleaning and putting things away).
Father's Day was also very nice. It was made extra special because we finally have an answer on the custody situation. The custody evaluator recommended that Cameron should move with us to Columbus. While we'll still be transporting him halfway every other weekend for visits with him mom, we feel so blessed that he will be able to go with us. Cameron is handling everything very well and we are looking forward to being able to have him with us on a more permanent basis.
We started out the day at church and then spent the rest of the day watching/napping through the U.S. Open golf tournament on tv. Yesterday evening, the Stubbs came over and the boys played on the slip n slide while the adults grilled out. It was such a nice relaxing day. The rain held off all weekend until last night.
We are down to 4 weeks until the due date and everything is going well. This week I start going to the Dr. every week for check-ups. I am getting more and more anxious to know what this little person looks like. I just can't wait to meet him/her. I think this week, we will finally pack the hospital bag and maybe even set up a few baby things in preparation for our homecoming. I guess you can never be too prepared. I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as we did. TTFN:0)

5 weeks to go

Don't get me wrong, I am not miserable by any means. I am anxious and excited to meet our new little person. I think the worst thing at this stage of pregnancy for me is maternity clothes. I hate all of them. I constantly feel as though my pants are falling down and my shirts are riding up. I think that someone should pass a bill saying that pregnant women can wear whatever they want to work. My wardrobe of choice right now would be the baggiest pair of basketball shorts I could find and a double XL t-shirt. I also think that pregnant women should be allowed to wear the comfiest pair of slide on sandals they can find. Tying my shoes is becoming a chore and I'm noticing that my bows are gradually migrating toward the inside of my foot. Another thing that I've found difficult is my lack of activity. I've been walking and even rode my bike up until a few weeks ago. But, I do miss my long bike rides with Stuart and my friend Jenica. And I'm also missing running and rollerblading and basically taking advantage of the warmer temps that make me want to be outside. I am reminded though that I am blessed to be able to experience all this pregnancy has to offer. Even though I have been nauseous at times throughout the past 35 weeks, the rest of pregnancy has been a breeze.
This past weekend was the Tour de Cure bike ride for diabetes. Stuart rode in my place this year and finished the entire 75k and then some!!! I was really proud of our team. We ride with Team Dirk which is dedicated to the memory of our friend Dirk Combs who passed away last year. This year we had 8 riders. While our fundraising was down from our effort last year, everyone had a great time and that was the most important thing.
For me, this past weekend was a blur of vacuuming, dusting and general scrubbing of our house. We have had so many showings lately that it seems as though all I do is clean. Even though we have shown our house 4 out of the last 5 days with an open house thrown in there on Sunday, no one has shown any real interest. That's fine with me. The longer we can prolong someone making an offer, the less chance we have of having to be out before our move date on August 10th.
We should have the recommendation from the custody evaluator at some point this week. Stuart and I are both very anxiously awaiting the verdict. We will update the blog as soon as we know anything.

Go Fish Champion of the World

That's me. I may not be able to beat my husband at any other card game but when it came to the Rogers family "Go Fish" tournament the other night, I prevailed. And I will brag about it because it might be the only time in my life that I beat both Stuart and Cameron at a card game. Hooray for me. Here's some pics from the weekend for your viewing enjoyment.

Surprise!!!

That's exactly what we did to Stuart this past weekend. A plan for a surprise graduation party had been in the works for about a month and we pulled it off this past weekend. My parents came into town on Friday to help me with everything. I will tell you, I couldn't have done it without them. I had conspired with some friends and they got Stuart out of the house on Saturday morning by organizing a golf outing (thank you Brian, Eric, and AJ). While he was gone Mom and I ran around and got all the supplies needed for the party. My awesome sister-in-law had been stockpiling a few things at her house for us too so as not to raise any questions. He arrived home about an hour before the festivities were meant to begin and really didn't know what was happening until it was all explained to him. This party was so important to me because I wanted him to know that his big accomplishment did not get lost in all the other excitement/stress in our lives. We had a good crowd and a good time was had by all. Lots of his family from Michigan drove down for the special occasion and all of our closest friends came. Even our two favorite nephews came to help "Uncle Stuter" celebrate earning his MBA. I promise I'll have plenty of pictures soon. I took the night off from being family photographer but my Mom filled in for me so we'll have plenty.
Yesterday was another baby shower for me. I must say that my friend Laura outdid herself on this one. She served some of my favorite snacks and even made my favorite cake. This shower was for all my friends and family that aren't affiliated with either my church or my work. It was so great to see everyone. Most of the people there I had met through Franklin College and 12 years later we're all still friends. Even some of their Mom's came. It was awesome. Of course, Baby Rogers was spoiled with lots of goodies. Tonight, Stuart and I are going to take inventory of what we have and then make a list of the other things we have to have before the big day. We are so grateful to all of our family and friends for making things so special for us with all the big changes happening in our lives. I can't say enough how blessed I feel because you all show your love in so many ways.
I'll get some pics posted in the next couple of days of our exciting weekend. Thanks to all of you who celebrated with us this weekend. Oh, and Stuart still has quite a few letters to go until he catches up with his brilliant wife:0)

6 weeks and 3 days to go

Until we get to meet the newest Rogers. Well, at least somewhere within that time frame. As time goes by we are getting more and more anxious to know what this little person is going to be like. I just can't wait to meet him/her. It's not that I'm miserable or even all that uncomfortable. I just want to know what this kid is going to look like. Pregnancy is probably the funniest thing that has ever happened to me. I mean, seriously, at no other point in my life has it been okay to get this fat. I love the excuse for elastic waistbands. I also never knew what people were talking about when they said their brain didn't function while they were pregnant. Wow. Somedays it's all I can do to find my way to work.

In other news, Cameron is loving summer camp. He is ready to go as soon as he wakes up in the morning. However, by the end of the day he is exhausted. Oh, he still talks quite a bit but he is just a lot less animated than usual. This week was highlighted by a trip to the Indiana State Museum as well as a trip to see Space Chimps the movie. Today is pool day so he was very excited for that. This whole experience is so good for him both physically, socially, and emotionally.

Stuart had his 3 month checkup/chest x-ray with his orthopaedic oncologist this morning. He passed with flying colors. So, we will be breathing easy again until September at his next appointment.

This weekend, my awesome friend Laura is throwing me a baby shower out at her house. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone that's going to be there including a lot of our old college crowd. I can officially say old now because most of them have reached the 30 year threshold (I'm still the youngest, he he he). That's all for now. I'll be sure and post some pics of this weekend's activities next week.

June already?

I can't believe that it's June already. 2009 has been flying by. I guess they're right, "time flies when you're having fun." Just imagine, we'll only flip the calendar one more time before the baby's due date and only two more times before we move. Talk about things creeping up on you. Over the past week, we've already started talking about putting together our hospital bag. We're only about a week or two away from the point our neighbors were at when they had their baby.

House update: We've had three showings on the house (no offers) and we will be having an open house on June 14th.

That's really about all that we have going on right now. We're just trying to keep our house clean for showings and wait patiently until we hear back from the custody evaluator.
